Liberal Position
President Obama and VP Biden and the democrats have supported a two state solution, allowing both Palenstinians and Israels to live as two separates states. Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, believes that is a no-win solution, since the Palestinians are backed by Hamas, a terrorist organization, financed by Iran. Obama was pushing for Israel to give back the land it won in the 1967 war, and let the Palestinians have that as their land, even through Israel won this land as settled in the 1967 treaty.
Obama ran as a president promising to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. However, in 8 years Obama/Biden never kept that promise. Neither did Bush or Clinton that also made that promise.
Under Obama, the relationship with Israel and the U.S. became strained. Obama was not a friend to Israel as outlined in this ABC report.
Conversative Position
President Trump is a good friend to Israel and has been praised by Benjamin Netanyahu for all the accomplishments and recognition and support provided by President Trump. He said our relationship has never been stronger. Some of the accomplishments of the Trump Administration with regard to Israel, including recognized the Golan Heights as part of Israel and recognized Israel’s, rather than Syria’s, sovereignty over that area, Trump authorized passage of the National Defense Authorization Act, which supplied high tech fighter planes to Israel and Turkey and denouncing the terrorist that threaten Israel.
The last 4 presidents promised to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, but none of them accomplished it. President Trump did move the embassy to Jerusalem. This was a big victory for him and a promise kept. The Obama plan to move the embassy had a $1 billion price tag, which is possibly why they never moved it. Trump rebuked that cost, and found a better facility already owned by the U.S. and was able to retrofit it for a secure embassy for only $400,000, saving the American Tax payers almost $1 Billion.
Recently, Israel and the UAE made a historic peace deal and for the first time ever a commercial plane was flown from Saudi Arabia to Israel. President Trump was instrumental in negotiating this deal and is the most progress towards peace in the middle east made in many decades.
