Oil/Energy

Issue Summary
National Monthly Gas Prices U.S. Strategic Oil Reserves
Energy is the live blood of any nation. It is required to power our cars and heat our houses and buildings. The more we rely on foreign countries for our energy supply the less secure we are. There is a delicate balance between keeping an eye on the environment and being energy secure, and the goal is to have complete energy independence with a zero carbon foot print. Neither may be entirely possible. When Trump was in office from 2016-2020, he pushed for energy independence, encouraging more local drilling of Natural Gas and Oil. As a result, gas prices fell below $2 per gallon and it helped the economy soar. When Biden took office in 2021, he stopped issuing new permits for oil and gas exploration and was relying on foreign oil, cutting off the oil and gas we were providing to Europe - forcing them to buy it from Russia. When Gas Prices reached $5 per gallon, Biden started tapping the strategic oil reserves to keep the prices down at the pump. He had drained our oil reserves to the lowest point in 50 years, making us vulnerable to enemy attack.

Liberal Position

Obama / Biden were hard on the fossil fuel production facilities during the 8 year term. With increased regulations we increased our reliance on foreign oil to 70%, sending $700 Billion per year to OPEC to purchase Oil to run our cars and heat our homes.  This drove the price of gas to $4 per gallon, which hit the middle class extremely hard.  When Biden took office in 2021 he raised the attack on the Oil industry and drove gas prices up, trying to force people to buy electric cars.

Additional Obama / Biden took tax payer money and invested it into renewal energy companies attempting to pick winners.  Solyndra took $500 million and went bankrupt a few months later.  Communist and Socialist countries invest in companies, Capitalist countries like the U.S. do not, since it is playing with taxpayer money.  Lesson learned.

Joe biden has indicated he is on both sides of the issues, against fracking, for fracking (in the short term), against coal, but for coal (in the short term), and he supports the Green new deal, to become off of Fossil fuels altogether, albeit without a plan for replacing them.

Joe Biden is all in on the Green energy new deal and wants to eliminate our dependence on fossil fuel, even though there is not clear path to survive in an oil and gas free world.

Conservative Position

Under Obama/Biden gas prices averaged $4 per gallon.  Under Trump they went down $2 per gallon.  This is a direct result of Trump's policy on energy.  Under Obama/Biden we were relying up to 70% of our oil was comping from OPEC, meaning we were sending $700 Billion per year to OPEC (Iran) and Iran uses some of that money sponsor terrorism.  While under Trump, we are energy independent for the first time, not relying on foreign oil and not funding terroism, Trump plans to get us back there when he elected in 2024.

Changing the policies to make us energy independent, created more jobs in America and drove down gas prices. The Average middle class family saved $2,000 per year for the reduction in gas prices alone, not including the reduction in costs of home heating and electricity costs.   However, under Biden the prices have soared back up increasing the cost to families dramatically.

At the same time, our air and water is cleaner in 2019.  And our use of renewal energy hit an all time high in 2019.
