Home Mortgage Rates

Issue Summary
With the massive inflation, over the last 3 years, the Fed has raised interest rates in an effort to curb inflation. Typically, when the economy is going great and people are making more money and companies are expanding, it tends to create inflation, and this approach to raise interest rates has worked in the past. However, the cause of this inflation is different. It is driven not be a booming economy but by massive increases in government spending and spiking energy costs. So when interest are raised in this scenario it actually makes things worse. The spike in mortgage rates makes borrowing for a home more difficult.

Liberal Position

Investing government money in climate change and sending money to Ukraine and Israel to fund foreign wars is more important than controlling the money supply and keeping interest rates lower.

However, everyone wants lower interest rates.

Conservative Position

There are a number of policies implemented by the Biden/Harris administration that have resulted in increased interest rates.  Trump has plans to fix this problem and to make mortgage rates reasonable again.

If you have any questions or additional information you wish to have us consider to post on the website, please send both liberal and conservative perspectives to impartial@voteredorblue.org. It is not enough to simply email one side or the other as that will not be considered.
